My name is Anton Marks. I'm a Speculative Fiction author based in London. I call my kind of fiction Urban Fantastic and my mission is to highlight the black experience through the lens of the fantastic.
I grew up in Jamaica leaving the UK when I was young and was educated there. Many of my influences are from that Caribbean island but I have an eclectic mixture of experiences that inspired my stories. My writing career started here in the UK with a Jamaican thriller I penned called Dancehall.
Dancehall was published by the X-Press publishers and was unique crime thriller that had dancehall reggae as a backdrop and followed the rise of a talented DJ Simba Ranking from the politically volatile ghetto's of Kingston.
Nothing had ever been done like that before and the readership went out and supported me graciously. My next novel In the Days of Dread – a futuristic thriller - had arrived after a hiatus of three years due to some challenges with the publishing world. That too went down well with growing readership.
Bushman a crime thriller was released in 2007 and 69 an erotic thriller was released 2008. 2012 will be the continuation of great things as I roll out a Charlie’s Angels type supernatural thriller called Bad II the Bone, a young adult fantasy book titled the Joshua N'Gon: Last Prince of Alkebulahn and a collection of short stories Urban Tales of Horror and Fantasy.
There are so many stories to tell and only a finite amount of time to tell them. For all those who don’t know me, I’m hoping this will be your opportunity.
Peace. Love and Power
Anton Marks
